Jean Toussaint – sax

Jean Toussaint is undoubtedly one of the great tenor players of recent jazz history. Born in Aruba (Netherlands Antilles), he made his name at the beginning of the eighties, when the legendary drummer Art Blakey called on him to join the legendary Jazz Messengers. It was the beginning of a glorious career, with contemporaries like Wallace Roney, Terence Blanchard, Mulgrew Miller and Donald Edwards, with whom he coincided in the Jazz Messengers, and with historic jazz figures of the calibre of Gil Evans, McCoy Tyner, Wynton Marsalis, Cedar Walton and Max Roach. Making his home in London since 1987, Toussaint has forged his career in the UK’s capital alongside British musicians like Jason Rebello and Andrew McCormack, as well as American artists.
Jean will be joined by emerging young jazz pianist Emile Hinton, up-and-coming bass player Murray Dare and drummer Ben Brown, who has toured the world with leading artists such as Jason Rebello , Mulatu Astatke, Ashley Henry and Judi Jackson
